Sidemount Course

You have been diving for quite some time now and have noticed that some divers have a different equipment configuration and they don't have their tanks on their backs but have them strapped to their sides, this configuration is called Sidemount and is very popular amongst technical divers.

What is Sidemount and what do we benefit from diving in this configuration? Diving in sidemount gives you the opportunity to have more air on your dives hence having 2 tanks and also to be more streamlined while diving whilst giving you more stability underwater. Sidemount is extremely popular among cave divers because of its sleek and streamlined design to fit through narrower areas where back mount divers have difficulty going through.

The Sidemount course consists of 3 days in the cenotes here in the Riveira Maya. Day 1 starts off the course with some theory and gear adjustment, then on to day 2 which consists of good Buoyancy Techniques and Propulsion Techniques. As for the 3rd day you finish off by learning and mastering all sidemount skills and a fun Cavern dive.

The prerequisites of the Sidemount course is Advance Open Water with +/- 25 logged dives. So if you are a diver interested in improving your diving skills beyond back mount then the Sidemount course is for you.
