Angelita and Carwash Cenotes
Cenote Angelita
If you want to experience an otherworldly mystical midnight forrest, this is your dive. As you approach this almost perfectly circular shaped Cenote, it will look like any other pond in the jungle. You will never imagine what a wondrous and magical place you will find underneath. You will descend through clear fresh water and encounter an eerie hydrogen sulfate layer at 30m. Diving into the hydrogen sulfate layer is like diving into a dense fog. Large fallen tree trunks and branches reach towards you, giving you the feeling of a magical and enchanting fairy tale. Underneath the thick cloud is the salt water.
This is not just a scuba dive, it is a wild and surreal experience, an experience you will never forget.
Location:
15 mins south of Tulum. Approximately one hour south of Playa del Carmen.
Cenote Carwash
The carwash cenote is a rich underwater lagoon filled with abundant marine life. The name ‘carwash’ comes from the taxi drivers who used to wash their cars in it, as they could drive their cars up to the water level, however, don’t let the name fool you. With an easily accessible entrance, this cenote is home to many varieties of fish, turtles and water lilies’ providing an experience that is an absolute joy at all skill levels. Fallen trees can be seen silhouetted in the water, making for a dramatic and ethereal view. Drop beneath the summertime bloom of algae, or into the crystal clear waters of winter to see the stunning views this dive experience offers.
Location:
15 mins north of Tulum. Approximately one hour south of Playa del Carmen.
